Windows Server 2008 SP2

It's best practice to install service packs onto a test server before you install it on a production server. I don't have a test server that's identical to my production server, so the safest thing would have been to install it on my non-identical test server. Except Windows Server 2008 SP2 x64 downloaded a lot quicker on my production server with its fast connection than my test Windows Server 2008 x64 server on a slow ADSL connection (I wasn downloading Vista 2008 SP2 x86 at the same time). The good news is everything appears to have gone smoothly, the server was back up and running after a relatively quick reboot.

Additionally, Vista SP2 x86 appears to have installed okay too. Now I just have to get around to installing it on the other couple of Vista x64 machines.

Not playing games while waiting?? Thanks again to you guys for a nice weekend. We must do it again! ;)

I have also decided that I like having a squeaky medic on the team, it lets me know when the enemy is behind me! Note that I have been a good boy and not made any rude jokes about prematuring firing off ubercharges when getting over-excited- No wait..! ;)

It didn't take long to download or install, certainly not long enough to play a decent game of anything.

I suspect we'll host another LAN party next year, starting on the Friday evening. We'll probably have another one or two spare PCs by then.

Heck I can provide a spare machine, I just don't have a car to carry it around in!

Chris is doing the bank holiday in August I take it? I won't be able to make that one as I will have to suffer with about 20 relatives celebrating my birthday. The next time we play TF2, I have unlocked a few more things to surprise you guys with... ;)

That's exactly why I need some spare PCs, because not everyone can bring one to the LAN party. Unless you were hinting for a lift? :P

I nearly took my PC home from the office, as it'd make a pretty good gaming machine (Core 2 Duo 1.86GHz/1GB DDR2/7800GT OC), but it'd mean taking one of my nameservers down for the entire weekend.
